Situated on a small hill called 'Ananda Giri' in Cholanayakanahalli, Hebbal, Bengaluru (Bangalore). Ananda Lingeshwara means happy God Shiva lingam (also linga, ling, Shiva linga, Shiv ling) is a representation of the Hindu deity Shiva used for worship in temple. Ananda Giri meaning The Hill of Happiness. The temple has three main god's Aananda Gajanana, Aananda Bhavani, & the main Aananda Lingeshwara, It also have Prasanna Anjaneya, Karthikeya (Subramanya), Navagraha (the 9 planet gods) and idols of Shiva linga's donated by divotiee's.
History
One of the oldest temple, originally built in the
period of Chola Dynasty (*year unknown). The temple was re-built in the year 1997. You can see The pillar & Remnants near the temple. Before the year 1979 the hill was surrounded with a Small forest which was having a small river flowing to nearest lake (Nagawara Lake), as the human habitat raised the river stopped flowing. Till the year 2000 the hill was under more the 10 religious head periodically, there after it is been maintained by trust. Afterit came under trust, the temple have been renovated infrastructure of the temple have been developed year by year.
The
hill covers with 3 local area Hebbal, Chola nayakana halli & Gudadda halli
(Hebbala).

- Ganesha temple (1 towards west, 1 towards north)
- Muneshwara Temple towards north
- Kaateremma devi temple towards north east,
- Santoshi mata mandir (in Garasia colony),
- Aadi shakthi Mandir (in Garasia colony),
- Sri Vishnu Shakti (Lakshmi) Mandir (in Garasia colony),
- Ayyappa temple towards east,
- Shani mahtma temple towards south east,
- Kalabhairaveshwara temple towards east side of temple.
Secret Escape Route (Suranga Marga):
In the present Kalabairaveshwara temple
there is an underground tunnel (Suranga Marga) which is old that the tunnel will reach Nandi
Hill’s ‘Secret Escape Route’ which is resent 54 km
(Road route) North from Hebbal. it is told that having helped the Kings to escape
during unforeseen attacks. By road transport the nandi hill is 50 Kms. But it is told that, throuth the tunnal we can reach by walk to 40 Kms. So by the time the enemy reach the hill, the king can escape easely. Nobody had explored this root since last 30-40 years.

Maha Shivaraatri
Maha Shivratri is a Hindu festival celebrated every year in reverence of Lord Shiva. It is the day Shiva was married to Parvati (Aadi Shakti). The Maha Shivratri festival, also popularly known as 'Shivratri' or 'Great Night of Lord Shiva', is observed on the 13th night/14th day in the Krishna Paksha every year on the month of Falgun according to the Hindu calendar.
This festival is celebrated very grandly in the hill, it will be like a Fair. more then a thousand people visit the temple from area surrounding hill. Various programme are Organized from the holi day to till the next day on this occasion. Every year free Lunch is been organised on the Next day of the holi Shivaratri,

Other information about Hill
Aananda Bhavani (idol)
Bhavani, one of the name of Hindu Goddess Aadi Shakthi. One of the old idol sculptured in the time of Chola's. placed towards right side of Sri Ananda Lingeshwara idol inside the temple.
It is stated in "Shiva Purana" that where ever idol of Shiva is worshiped, the Goddess Shakti should also be worshiped in same place. | |
Sri Kaala Bhairaveshwara Idol
The Kshetra Paalaka (ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಪಾಲಕ) that means the protector of the Area. According to "Shiva purana" the devotees has to first devote the Kaala Bairaveshwara god before seing the main God. The idol installed & modified by Sri Anandlingeshwara Trust (r) in 2009 . The cave is having secrete escape route to Nandi hiills. |

Nandi (Idol of bull)
Always facing to the Shiva Linga. Placed outside the main door of temple. Left of Beal tree (Aegle Marmelos, ಬಿಲ್ವ ಪತ್ರೆ ಮರ). It is newly sculptured black stone. This idol is donated by a devotee.

Direction:
The direction to come to this temple, From Hebbal main bus stand, It is just a walk able distance of 300 / 400 miters.
The bus service is available from Center of the City (K.R. Market / Kempegowda Bus Terminal / Shivajinagar) or from other locations from outer ring road - Silk Board, Marathhalli, K.R.Puram, Jalahalli, Kengeri, Banashankari also. All buss moving via / towards / to Hebbal, you have to alight at Hebbal Junction.
The nearest railway station is HEB Hebbala (only passenger train from Yeshwantpura / Hosur) / YPR - Yeshwanthpura / SBC - Bangalore City Junction.
The nearest Airport is Kempegowda International Airport, Devanahalli Bangaluru.
